As the ‘gateway’ to High Street 2012, Aldgate has already seen the creation of a new park at Braham Street which has replaced a busy road system and the restoration of six historic buildings on Whitechapel High Street.

Works at Altab Ali Park have made the space more attractive and increased the use of the park by a wider range of people. Works began on site in February 2011 and included new planting to enhance the existing greenery, installing play equipment and seating, improvement around the Shaheed Minar monument and a new path retracing the footprint of the old White Chapel which gives the neighbouring area its name. There are also now better pedestrian links to Brick Lane, via the junction with Osborne Street.

Works at Aldgate were designed by muf-architecture & art and managed by JMP.
