Aldgate
Introduction:
As the ‘gateway’ to High Street 2012, Aldgate has already seen the creation of a new park at Braham Street which has replaced a busy road system and the restoration of six historic buildings on Whitechapel High Street. Future improvements include major enhancements at Altab Ali Park and the provision of better pedestrian links to Brick Lane.
Works at Aldgate are being delivered by JMP and muf-architecture & art.

Coming Up:
Initiatives planned at Altab Ali Park aim to make the space more attractive and increase use of the park by a wider range of people. Activities will be starting on site in early February 2011 and will include new planting to enhance the existing greenery, installing play equipment and seating, improvement around the Shaheed Minar monument and a new path retracing the footprint of the old White Chapel.
